2021 Plauen

The artist couple Nicole and C.-P. Malek come from near Heilbronn and are known for their analog black-and-white photographs taken with historical cameras. A certain melancholy combined with the feeling of deceleration in an increasingly hectic world is one of the main features of their work. In the context of the exhibition „Father and Son – Quite Real!“ they present specially made photographs on the theme of „Generations“ and focus primarily on the female aspect. As a stylistic device, they use reduction and symbolism in the works shown. For them, ginkgo leaves stand for the endurance of time and are also reminiscent of abstracted human bodies.
